چکیده

During a pandemic, nonspecific immunoprophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 infection and other acute respiratory infections (ARI), which can worsen the course COVID-19, is increasingly in demand addition to specific immunization. BCG vaccine appears be one candidate immunostimulants this regard. At same time, microbe-derived preparations capable inducing state trained immunity deserve attention. bacterial immunostimulatory agents containing large number biologically active subunits have long been considered as objects search for promising pharmacological substances. The review analyzes linkages between BCG, mycobacterial adjuvants, lysates, immunity, muramylpeptides (MPs) NOD2 receptors light choice low molecular weight alternative multicomponent ARI prevention during COVID-19 pandemic. key molecules by bacteria stimulate innate adaptive immune responses proceeds spiral. On different loops spiral, MPs repeatedly reproduced effects vaccines immunostimulants. peptidoglycans determine adjuvant properties cell walls mycobacteria their peptide-glycolipid fraction (wax D). were able replace Mycobacterium tuberculosis complete Freunds adjuvant. NOD2-dependent ability induce immunity. Probably, provide NOD2-mediated long-term prophylactic action lysates. All above has prompted revisiting previously obtained evidence efficacy glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide (GMDP) agonist treatment/prevention infections. We speculate here that MPs, particular GMDP, at rational dosing regimens will reproduce many aspects preventing pandemic post-pandemic period.

Multicomponent low molecular weight gelators.

Low molecular weight gelators (LMWG) self-assemble in solution into one-dimensional objects such as fibres or tapes. The entanglement of these fibres or tapes results in the formation of a network and a gel. In general, LMWG are investigated as single component systems. However, there are significant potential opportunities from mixed LMWG systems, which are rarely investigated. Here, we discus...

Immunometabolic Pathways in BCG-Induced Trained Immunity

The protective effects of the tuberculosis vaccine Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) on unrelated infections are thought to be mediated by long-term metabolic changes and chromatin remodeling through histone modifications in innate immune cells such as monocytes, a process termed trained immunity. Here, we show that BCG induction of trained immunity in monocytes is accompanied by a strong increase...

Autophagy Controls BCG-Induced Trained Immunity and the Response to Intravesical BCG Therapy for Bladder Cancer

The anti-tuberculosis-vaccine Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is the most widely used vaccine in the world. In addition to its effects against tuberculosis, BCG vaccination also induces non-specific beneficial effects against certain forms of malignancy and against infections with unrelated pathogens. It has been recently proposed that the non-specific effects of BCG are mediated through epigene...

A study of the status of the elderly; bacterial infections, their causes, prevention, and control methods

Background: On the 26th anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons in 2015 with the slogan "the elderly, advocates of dynamism, growth, and the youth of the population", 12% (900 million individuals) of the world population were above 65 years of age. It is estimated that this rate will reach 22% (2 milliard individuals) by 2050. The purpose of the present study was to dete...

Low Molecular Weight Heparin Overdose: A 10 Year Case Series

Background: Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is used for the treatment and prevention of coagulative disorders. Few patients receiving therapeutic doses of LMWH develop major hemorrhage. Currently there are few reports in the literature on acute overdose on adults.  In this study, clinical profile, treatment and outcome of 21 patients who acutely overdosed enoxaparin are described. Method...
